I'm doing it for the fun of it, for the exercise and if I can defend myself it is an added benefit. Hope to reach a level one day where I can defend my family in case of a hostile situation.
At the base, to learn to be confident enough to even try to defend myself in a hostile situation, which is something that women tend to give up on too fast, I think. It has helped me also be more aware of little everyday actions that can make us a victim, and I'm also teaching my six-year son a few simple principles. And, as an added bonus, it has helped me re-center myself in an unexpected way, perhaps because of the primal nature of it, and has a way to attract the best group of people around!
You're right. Learning KM also helps in other areas in life. Your whole attitude changes towards human interactions. I can't wait to teach my 1.5 yo daughter some tricks. I don't want her to be bullied at school.
My goals from Krav, are , new skills(i.e the ability to defend myself) and a greater level of fitness. I have been lazy for many years and it has cost my body, im hoping that by enjoying Krav and progressing in it it will drive me to being more active, and it has already had good effects on me, by wanting to look at other active hobbies to do alongside that will benefit both my health and my practice.
My reason to learn is to teach my colleges at work.
The reason that we use some Krav Maga techniques is:
1. It works (I have tried some of the techniques in real life).
2. It goes fast to learn.
3. It is fun.
My goals from Krav started out mainly as a way to get in shape and still remain that way for the most part.
I stopped smoking in August and was looking for something to replace it and exercise was my choice rather than getting fat(ter than I already am :) ).
I chose Krav because of the realism and practicality of it to real life situations. The workouts involved can be pretty intense at times and that's just the way I like it.
It started i am currently going through to better myself. Some how it has became a addiction/hobby of mine. I was a gymnast for 4 years a never encountered such a rush that Krav has given me. I plan to take it as far as i can go.
First and foremost to become a more physically and mentally fit person. As of right now I consider myself to be somewhat out of shape and unless I had a gun in my hand, I severely doubt I could defend myself in a life threatening situation. I am confident that Krav Maga, over time, will rectify both of these problems. As an added bonus it is also a great way for the fiance to spend time together and relieve some frustration at the end of the day.
I had been looking for a system that has real life applications. Krav Maga is that system. My goals with Krav are to become efficient and effective, to attain higher levels, and be confident that I could protect myself and my family if the need presented itself.
