I'm doing it for the fun of it, for the exercise and if I can defend myself it is an added benefit. Hope to reach a level one day where I can defend my family in case of a hostile situation.
I got into it to get into shape (which is definetely working) and now I am in it so that I can be prepared to defend myself, especially when my son is with me and because it's really helping raise my confidence. Of course, it's also a hell of a lot of fun!
I truly intend on being a part of not only Krav Maga, but our organization as a whole (IKMF). I love to show people that there are techniques that are more effective than traditional martial arts in respect to real-life situations. I guess I'm a natural recruiter for Krav.
My next goal is to instruct. I will be going through the CIC course next year. There is no better feeling to watch someone become proficient in a skill that you taught them.
Third is obvious I want to become the best martial artis that I can so that if need be, I can efficiently defend my family, friends and myself.
I started Krav Maga about 6 months after I was assaulted. I started primarily to learn to defend myself, but it got me into great shape and also centered me. It helped take away my fear and teach me to be strong, both mentally and physically. Recently my mom had knee surgery, so I haven't gone lately but I miss it so much! It has been one of, if not the, best experience of my life.
I have two goals. The first is to lose weight. The second is to stay alive. I have been in law enforcement for 14 years, without any knowledge of defensive tactics. I went to tthe police academy when D/T was not a state requirement, so I have had to get it on my own.

For the most part I just enjoy Krav.... everything about it... Working out and feeling good and like i accomplished something is a big reward for me. In my 20+ years of martial arts i have never had the confidence in my ability to defend myself as i do now with Krav. I am stronger, faster and more alert now because of Krav... that is a feeling that no one can take away from me now. I really enjoy tapping into that deeply hidden fierceness... it's like a hidden potentential that a lot of people don't know they have. Rank is not an issue to me, however I would love to join the instructor staff with my instructor, Bart Brooks. So in all, I plan to keep up with Krav until the end... level up when i can and ejoy the beating that comes with it.
I want to take my Krav training as far as I can go and achieve the highest level of skill I can. I would like to continue training in Krav as I go through life. Even in 50 years time when I get my Zimmer frame, I intend to just consider it a common object I can use to defend myself in the retirement village...LOL :-)
Amazingly enough, though I wouldn't mind instructing and having my own school, I've recently begun to use Krav to chase a childhood ambition. That ambition is to be a performing Knight for the Medieval Times chain of entertainment restaurants, as they require athletically fit individuals, and performing experience. If I have extensive experience in a combat system, they may very well consider me, and my portfolio, more so than a guy who, say, played High School Football. My performing experience will come from my long background as a performing Drummer in bands (about 10 years worth)
My goal when I started was just to learn to defend myself, but after my first 2 months experience with Krav and how amazing it is, I'm hooked! My goals are now not only to learn to defend myself, but to reach the highest level that I can, and eventually (however long it may take) I think it would be really neat to become an instructor. It may take me a looooong time, but it is a goal and I hope to achieve it, someday!
I have always been an active person and all forms of exercise were fun for me.KM is not a sport but it has many connective points with it.I am a fan of boxing.I trained boxing to stay fit but i train KM to stay alive.
