I've gotten some feedback about this before but I'd like to hear your opinion on having hands raised (when having a weapon pointed at you), as in a sign of compliance and then initiating your defense, vs. Starting your defense from a hands at your side .

One thought says that attacking during your feigned compliance is more surprising while the other allows one to be closer to the weapon at hand.

Any thoughts?

Im only a beginner! but.... if you are talking about baseball bat or broken bottle then i feel that if your hands were at "half mast" so to speak, with your weaker hand slightly in front of the other, assuming the attacker is right handed your fighting stance should look natural and submisive also you will be naturally well placed for burstin as soon as you see the attack begin . if a gun always up i would say.

i will follow this question interesting i think
