What do you think about the KM defence from knife's attack?

is ok
As long as it doesn't say "catch the hand with the knife..." it may be interesting. But when somebody suggests to catch the hand, I want my money back :)
If anybody says that they have a foolproof defence against a knife attack they are fools and people should avoid them like the plauge. You should alwys be aware that you will be cut and injured. The point is to comeout alive not unblooded or uncut. If you attemp to do that you will comeout in a bodybag.Dennis Hannover once said that anybody who teaches knife defences should be put in jail because they are preparing you to die.But that´s just him.

I completely agree with everything said before me. Moshe Katz likes to quote Dan Inosanto:"Knife disarms are often incidental if not accidental". In IKI we teach the last rule of any knife encounter, whether a threat or an attack, is to seek medical attention! I've faced knives before and many of Moshe's students are former Soviet Special Operators who now work in Old City Jerusalem, they have faced knives quite often... much of what is learned from such experiences is to NEVER try a disarm. Control the knife wielding arm and destroy the attacker! There simply is no two ways about it; IF you get the knife you got LUCKY! IF you didn't get cut in the process, you got a MIRACLE! IF you go home at the end of the day, you did your job! IF the attacker doesn't - who cares, he chose the wrong target!
Great question......
Hello everyone:)
At first I would like to say sorry- my english isn't good.
Here you have one very good movie about defence from knife's attack: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e79_1233479208&comment_order=old... (SOME PHOTOS ARE VERY BRUTAL!!!).
I agree with everything said before. In my opinion the best MA in this situation is 400meters sprint:) From Krav-maga/ Kapap/other MA the best defance is only front kick.

Good luck and a lot of blood in traning gym not on the street:)
Here is a link to another good example of dealing with a knife in close when you just have no chance to run away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZlIRfuAr6E&feature=channel_page

It's funny, but in Moshe's last seminar with us, he makes a 3 minute speech about respecting knives enough to run away anytime you can.... great point!

That's true, every good teacher/master should say that on his training. Knive is more danger than gun in CQB situation. Gun you can try to catch, knive- I don't think so.
I think you are absolutely correct. I tell my students that a knife is a touch weapon and unlike a gun, it can injure coming at you and going away. Every stab can become a slash and every slash can become a stab. With a gun, all you need to do is avoid sight alignment and stay clear of the muzzle. It can only injure in one direction. With a knife small movements will likely not be enough.
I don't care if the studens like it or not but everytime I do something with knifes I give a speech about the danger of it. All this knife stuff looks cool and effective but believe met: it's not.
All well said, but also remember that you might be with your wife, kids, friends that might not be able to run when confronted. In that case (if you can't just shoot the attacker) kick defense followed by more kicks or use any temp weapons at your reach, keep an eye on the knife but don't try to "go for it" insted inflict max damage to the attacker.
I always read your posts. Your thoughts are amazing and the way you put all information in single post is fantastic.I will wait for your next informative post.
